The fastest and simplest method to add a new PECSYS® is to find a current report that is similar to what you want in your new report and edit it. In PECSYS® editing and renaming a report creates a new report without altering the original. For example, if you wanted to create a report for DM patients who are pregnant, you could start with “List DM Pts” and rename it to say “List DM Patients who are pregnant.” The simple act of changing the name creates the new report and leaves the “List DM Patients” report untouched. This trick saves you time because the patients with DM filters are already in place so all you have to add are your additional filters (in this case Pregnancy but they can be anything). This also allows you to feel free to mess around with reports and filters without worrying you will ruin any reports.
To start, choose Diabetes from the list of available report categories at the top of the screen, and then choose the report “List DM Pts”
Click Edit Report
Give the report a unique name. For example: List DM Pts who are Pregnant
Click Next
Now you are looking at the list of current report filters. Note that the DM filters are already listed. Now you just need to add any additional filters to create the report you want
Choose Add Filter to Refine
Choose Conditions
Choose Pregnant
Click Next
Check “Patients with this diagnosis (or procedure)”
Note: At this stage you can also add other limiting factors such as diagnosis date, etc. This filter details screen is different depending on the type of item/filter you are adding
Choose Continue
From the Filters list screen, Click Preview Filter to make sure the filters are correct
Once you have viewed the filters, Click Close
If the filters were all correct, Click Next
Add or delete any columns you would like and, click Finish
The new report is now ready to run and the original report is still intact
